5 Tools for Better Recovery

5 Tools for Better Recovery

One day that you should never skip is your rest day. #restday

Science has shown time and again that rest and recovery are crucial in our overall training and having a rest day is just as important as any workout day is. Here are some of our favorite things to do to help assist us on your rest and recovery days. You can thank us later!

dream powder by beam

The ultimate way to rest and recover: sleep. If you are not getting enough sleep, your body isn’t able to hit maximum recovery. Run, sweat, sip, sleep with dream powder by beam.

Feel runderful with dream powder! This blend reminds us of hot chocolate, and it really helps your body and mind wind down for the night. We recommend sipping your dream powder out of your favorite running mug before bed as this stuff makes you sleepy.

You’ll be sure to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to lace up and run!

Whoop

Balancing recovery, workouts, sleep (and knowing how much your body needs) just got a whole lot easier, with just a flick of the wrist with the Whoop band.

This band is the secret to unlocking your body’s true potential. Whoop does all that math for you and tells you exactly what you need with just a quick glance at their app, measuring how long you sleep, but also the quality of your sleep. It then provides you with feedback on exactly how much sleep you need to sweat the next day. By analyzing data like your heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep and respiratory rate, they create a baseline with personalized daily recovery recommendations.

Hyperice NormaTec

We all wish we could get a massage daily or even once a week but for those of us that can’t NormaTec by Hyperice is the next best thing. It is an investment piece but it is so worth it.

Engineered by a physician bioengineer, the patented Pulse massage patter employs pulsing, distal release, and gradients to enhance blood flow and speed recovery. We all want to recover faster and better and Norma is the perfect partner.

Vital Performance Protein Powder

Protein is the building blocks for building muscle and we are loving the new protein powder by Vital Performance. Vital Performance is Vital Proteins’s new line of supplements powered by collagen peptides.

Collagen is a vital building block for our bodies including skin, hair, nails, bones and joints. As runners we all know about those joints! Our bodies cannot synthesize enough collagen on its own and we do not always get as much as we need through our diets. Adding collagen into your diet is essential for muscle and ligament health which means we can push it harder, farther and longer.

This protein powder is hands down our favorite! It delivers 25 grams of complete protein designed to complement your fitness routine. It supports improved recovery, stimulates muscle protein synthesis and promotes healthy bones, joints and tendons.

Add to a smoothie or a bowl of oatmeal for a delicious breakfast post-run!

Stretching and Yoga

Stretch it out! Raise your hand because you are probably just as guilty as we are about not stretching enough. Stretching should be super easy, but for some reason we can never really make the time for it.

It’s time to make the time because you really only need like 10 - 15 minute to stretch each day. If you can’t find the motivation yourself, try a yoga class!

Rest it up and get ready for better days of training ahead.
